# Open your notes inside ChatGPT

Until now ChatGPT could read and write your notes, but you could not see them there. You asked, it fetched, and you took its word for what the note said.

Now Hjarni opens as a panel right inside ChatGPT.

**Open it from the sidebar.** Find Hjarni Notes in ChatGPT's sidebar, then pick a recent note, search, or browse your folders the way you do on the web: Inbox, Favorites, your spaces, tags and the Trash.

**Ask about the note you have open.** The open note is shared with ChatGPT as context, so "make a shopping list for five" works without pasting anything. Select a passage and it is shared too, for questions like "shorten this".

**Edit it right there.** The panel has the same editor as the web app. Save, and it is a new version in the note's history like any other edit. If ChatGPT changes the note while you have it open, the panel shows the new version; if you are in the middle of an edit, it waits and asks rather than overwriting your draft.

**Organise without switching tabs.** Create notes and folders, tick checkboxes, add files, move a note, star it, archive it, or restore an older version from its history.

You can also type @ in the ChatGPT desktop app to mention a note in your message.

It is on every plan, wherever you use Hjarni in ChatGPT. Not connected yet? [Here is how](/docs/chatgpt).
