Hjarni on a Mac, without the phone layout

The iPhone and iPad app has always installed on Apple Silicon Macs. It just looked like a phone stretched to fill a window: a sidebar that slid in and out, a tab bar along the bottom, and a new screen stacked on top every time you clicked something.

That is the right shape for a phone. It is the wrong shape for a window with room for a sidebar.

Now the Mac window works the way the web app does. Give it room and the sidebar stays open beside your notes. Clicking a folder swaps the content next to it instead of pushing another screen on top, so nothing piles up to dig back out of. Back and forward arrows sit at the top of the sidebar when you do want to retrace a step.

The menu bar does what a Mac menu bar should. Cmd-N starts a new note. Cmd-1 through Cmd-5 jump to Dashboard, Inbox, New, Search and Settings. Cmd-R reloads.

Why this matters: most people write on a laptop. The app was reachable there for a while, but it did not feel like it belonged. Now it does.
