The AI-native knowledge base for Claude

Claude starts every chat from zero. Hjarni gives it a knowledge base it can read across every conversation.

Free to start. No credit card required.

What this unlocks

Workflows that actually use your context

Summarize a quarter of meeting notes in one prompt

Ask Claude to read every note in your Meetings folder from the last 90 days and write a one-page summary. No file uploads. No re-pasting.

Pick up Monday where Friday ended

Open a fresh chat and ask Claude to continue the project plan. It searches Hjarni for the latest plan note, reads it, and resumes from where you stopped writing.

Draft from your own customer interviews

Tell Claude to find your customer interview notes tagged 'pricing' and rewrite the positioning doc with quotes from those interviews, not from generic startup advice.

Save the decision the moment it's made

End a brainstorm with 'save this as a note in Hjarni under Strategy and tag it adr'. Tomorrow's Claude already knows what you decided and why.

Setup

Connect Claude in about two minutes

  1. 1

Sign up for Hjarni and write a few notes. Free tier works for setup.

  2. 2

In Claude.ai or Claude Desktop, open Customize, then Connectors.

  3. 3

Click Add custom connector. Name it hjarni. Set the URL to https://hjarni.com/mcp.

  4. 4

Sign in to Hjarni when redirected. The OAuth handshake authorizes Claude.

  5. 5

Ask Claude to list your recent Hjarni notes. If they show up, you are done.

Claude.ai and Claude Desktop use the Connectors UI. The URL below is the only value you paste.

https://hjarni.com/mcp

The Hjarni MCP endpoint is https://hjarni.com/mcp. The connection uses OAuth, so you sign in with your Hjarni account when prompted. No API key files to manage.

Why Hjarni instead of Claude Projects or a local folder

A Markdown folder on your laptop is invisible to Claude.ai in the browser and to Claude iOS on the train. Hjarni is hosted, so the same notes show up in every Claude client you sign into. One knowledge base, every Claude surface.

Claude Projects give Claude a workspace per project. Useful, but the context lives inside Claude and stays there. Hjarni keeps the knowledge on your side, so when ChatGPT or Cursor joins the workflow they read the same notes through MCP.

Folder-level AI instructions in Hjarni let you tell Claude how to behave per project: 'in the Customers folder, quote interviews verbatim; in the Strategy folder, never invent metrics.' That is the part a vector database cannot do.

Common questions

Questions before you connect Claude

Does Hjarni store my notes locally on Claude?

No. Claude does not store your notes. Hjarni stores them. Claude reads them through MCP only when you ask it to, and the OAuth connection can be revoked at any time.

Which Claude clients support the Hjarni MCP server?

Claude.ai, Claude iOS, Claude Desktop, and Claude Code all support remote MCP servers. Claude.ai and the iOS app use OAuth. Claude Code uses the CLI. Hjarni works with all of them.

What does Claude see compared to what Hjarni sees?

Hjarni sees every note in your account. Claude only sees what it explicitly requests during a conversation. Most messages pull in a few notes through search, not your entire knowledge base.

Is the Hjarni MCP integration free?

Yes. Hjarni's free tier includes MCP access with no token limits. On the Claude side, connectors are in beta. Availability varies by plan, so check Anthropic's current pricing page before you build a workflow around it.

Can I use the same knowledge base with both Claude and ChatGPT?

Yes. The same Hjarni account works with any MCP client. Connect Claude and ChatGPT in parallel and they both read from the same notes.
