Email capture
Email it in.
It files itself.
Every folder in Hjarni can have its own email address. Forward a newsletter, a receipt, or the thread that settled a decision, and it arrives as a clean note in the right folder, attachments included, ready for Claude and ChatGPT to read.
Free to start. Capture addresses are part of Pro.

Lands in Hjarni as
The case against microservices
From Ada Lovelace (ada@example.com) on 3 September 2026, via Reading
The Fwd: prefix, the quoted thread and the signature are stripped. The sender and date survive.
The habit you already have
Forwarding it to yourself is not saving it.
Most of what is worth keeping arrives by email, or ends up there because mailing it to yourself was the fastest way to get it off the screen you were looking at. Then it sits in an inbox with everything else, and the moment you need it you are searching a mail client for a phrase you half remember.
A read-later app moves the pile somewhere quieter. It does not make the pile readable by the AI you ask questions to.
A capture address does. The mail becomes a note in a folder you chose, tagged and searchable, and your assistant reads it like anything else you wrote.
How it works
Three steps, once.
Nothing to install, and nothing to open when you want to save something.
Copy your address
Every Pro account has one waiting under Folders. Save it as a contact so it autocompletes when you are sharing from your phone.
Send it anything
A forward, a share sheet, a newsletter signup, or a mail rule that runs while you sleep. Anything that can address a message can write a note.
Read it back through your AI
Notes arrive tagged email, so "what came in this week" is one question to Claude or ChatGPT.
What arrives
A note, not a transcript.
A forwarded thread is five layers of quoted headers. What lands is the part you forwarded it for.
The title
The subject, with every stacked Re: and Fwd: removed. No subject at all gives you the sender and the date.
The body
Markdown. Quoted history, signatures and tracking pixels are cut; your own words in an inline reply are kept.
The files
Attached to the note, up to 25 MB each. A forwarded invoice arrives as a note with the invoice on it.
The folder
Whichever one you bound the address to, with the tags you gave it. One address per destination, up to ten.
What people send it
One address per habit.
Newsletters
Subscribe with a Reading folder's address instead of your inbox. Issues pile up where your AI can read them, and never in your mail.
Receipts and invoices
Forward the confirmation. The note carries the PDF, filed and tagged, so an expense question has a source.
Anything on your phone
Share to Mail, type three letters, send. Faster than opening a notes app, and it works on every device you own.
Client threads
Send the thread that settled a decision into a team folder. Everyone's AI reads the decision, not the ceremony around it.
A rule that runs itself
Gmail filters and Outlook rules forward automatically. Everything from one sender lands in the right folder without you touching it.
Tools that only speak email
Scanners, form builders and reporting jobs all send mail. This is the integration they already have, and it needs no API token.
Yours to close
An address is a key.
Anyone who knows one can add a note to that folder, so it is built to be rotated and shut.
Rotate it
Regenerate swaps the secret and keeps the label, the folder and the history. The old address stops working at once.
Shut it
Revoking closes an address for good. Every note it already made stays exactly where it is.
Never on the note
A captured note names the address's label, never the address, so sharing the note never hands over the key. See privacy and permissions.
Common questions
Questions about emailing notes in
How do I email a note to myself in Hjarni?
Every folder can have its own email address. Copy the one waiting under Folders, then Email addresses, or press Email to this folder on any folder, and send or forward anything to it. The subject becomes the note title, the message becomes the body, and attachments come along.
What happens to the forwarded thread and the signature?
They are cut before the note is saved. Quoted replies, signature blocks, mobile client footers and Outlook's repeated headers all go; a forward is unwrapped so the original sender and date survive as the note's first line. What is left is the part you forwarded it for, in Markdown.
Can I email into a specific folder?
Yes, that is the point of it. Each address is bound to one folder and can carry its own tags, so a Reading address files newsletters and a Receipts address files invoices. You can hold up to ten addresses, and every captured note is also tagged email.
Can ChatGPT and Claude read what I email in?
Yes. A captured note is an ordinary note, so any AI connected over MCP searches and reads it like anything else you wrote. The automatic email tag means "what came in this week" is a single question.
Is emailing notes in free?
Creating an address is part of Pro. The page is on every account so you can see what it does first, and a lapsed subscriber can still read and close the addresses they hold. See pricing.
Is it safe to give an address to a newsletter?
Yes, and that is a normal use of it. An address is a write key for one folder, so treat it like a password: keep it off public pages, and regenerate or revoke it from the same page if it ends up somewhere it should not be. Notes it already created stay where they are.
Can my team email into a shared folder?
Yes. A team folder can have an address, made from the folder or from the team's Email addresses page. It writes as the member who created it, only they can see the address itself, and the team owner can revoke it. See Hjarni for teams.
Stop mailing it to yourself.
