What does the manual say? What did you try last time?
Your coffee machine needs cleaning, but the manual is buried in Downloads. The printer receipt is in an old email. You cannot remember whether you descaled last month or only meant to.

Do I need every receipt and manual before starting?
No. Start with a device name and whatever you know. Add documents and history later.
Does Hjarni organise the note automatically?
Your connected AI does the reading and organising when you ask. Hjarni keeps the original files and the notes it saves.
Can a receipt tell me whether a repair is covered?
It can establish purchase details. Coverage also depends on the warranty terms and the issue; your AI should identify what is missing.
Will this send maintenance reminders?
This template keeps notes and dated events. It does not schedule notifications.

ORGANISE
- Search this folder before creating. Reuse the matching device note or an unused starter; otherwise create a main note here. If a matching note is elsewhere, ask before moving it into this folder. Never repurpose another device's note. Apply the exact tag device to main notes only.
- A setup or update request authorises organising supplied details and history. Questions alone are read-only. Ask only about ambiguity that affects the task, such as the model; optional details are not a questionnaire.
- Name the note for the device. Include known model, useful guidance, purchase details, sources and history; omit empty sections. Keep simple devices in one note. Reuse or add device-named supporting notes in this folder only when useful, linking both ways.
- Preserve user content, original files and every history entry. Only starter instructions may be removed. When moving history, compare entries and read back the destination before removing originals. Verify saved content, device tag and links; report failed writes.
- After setup or an update, tell the user what you saved and anything you could not open or read.
READ SOURCES
- Read the main note and relevant linked notes first. During setup, read supplied manufacturer links or text. For attachments, request a fresh download URL immediately before fetching. If access fails, continue with known details and offer pasted pages or a direct chat upload.
- Save concise, model-specific details with the actual source and available page/section references, never temporary download URLs. Distinguish manufacturer guidance, receipt facts and user reports. Leave unsupported facts unknown; do not copy unnecessary payment or identity details.
- During authorised writes, mark sources read, partly read or unread, with coverage and limitations. Distinguish fetch failure from unreadable content. Preserve evidence of earlier reads; label uncertain provenance unverified. Cite chat uploads or pasted text separately unless their identity with a stored file is confirmed.
- Cite what you actually read. Label saved summaries as such, never as a fresh PDF read. Do not invent references, specifications or procedures; follow the applicable manual and flag unreadable diagrams. Receipt dates alone establish neither warranty coverage nor expiry.
KEEP HISTORY
- Separate completed work, plans, observations and unresolved problems. The newest entry is not necessarily the last completed maintenance. Preserve wording, dates and outcomes; make corrections explicit. Use full dates when known; otherwise retain the user's wording rather than guessing.
- Keep fictional examples labelled and out of real records. Never claim a read or save succeeded when it failed, or promise automatic reminders.
