Templates

Templates are ready-made workspace blueprints. Share one with your AI and it sets up folders, tags, instructions, and starter notes for you.

What templates are

A template defines a complete workspace structure: folders, tags, AI instructions, and starter notes. Instead of building a knowledge base from scratch, you pick a template and let your AI set it up.

Templates are not installed through the app. You share the template link with Claude or ChatGPT, and your AI reads the blueprint and creates everything using MCP.

How to use a template

  1. Browse available templates and pick one.
  2. Copy the template link.
  3. Paste it into a conversation with Claude or ChatGPT (with Hjarni connected).
  4. Your AI reads the blueprint and creates the folders, tags, instructions, and starter notes.
  5. Done. Start adding your own notes.

What a template includes

Containers

A folder hierarchy tailored to the topic. Nested as deep as needed.

Tags

A starter set of tags that fit the domain.

AI instructions

Per-folder rules so your AI knows how to handle notes in each area.

Starter notes

Example notes to show the intended structure and give you something to build on.

FAQ

Can I customize a template after installing it?

Yes. Once your AI creates the structure, it's yours. Rename folders, change tags, edit instructions, delete what you don't need.

Do templates overwrite existing notes?

No. Templates create new folders and notes. Your existing content is untouched.

Can I use a template with ChatGPT?

Yes. Any AI assistant connected to Hjarni through MCP can install a template. Just paste the template link into the conversation.

Can I create my own templates?

Not yet. Templates are curated by Hjarni. If you have an idea for one, email us.
